Monday was a special night for LBC Action at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. As the Mariners took on the Phillies, we honored our partners at Seattle Mariners Native American Heritage Night. It has been a learning journey and this was an opportunity to embrace the spirit of revelry with our long-time partners Erik Stegman (Native Americans in Philanthropy) and Juan Martinez Pineda (Aspen Institute Opportunity Youth Forum / Fresh Tracks), and to celebrate Tracy Canard Goodluck and the Center for Native American Youth on their 15th anniversary.
To have partners Shawna Rosenzweig (Camp Fire), Mitsu Iwasaki (Trust for Public Land) and Marc Berejka (Nature and Health Alliance / Texan by Nature) join us made the night especially memorable as the Mariners won 9-3 behind three home runs from Cal Raleigh. Thank you to Casey Sixkiller for starting me on this journey and to Mandy LeBlanc for being the gem.
Growing up in Seattle I used to go to Mariners games in the 80’s. We did not win much and we played indoors in the Kingdome but I connected with friends had fun and enjoyed sport and good company and always came home with a smile. That is what LBC Action aspires to as we bring together leaders to build community and make positive impact together while finding joy in connecting with each other .
