Native Americans in Philanthropy Co-Hosts White House Roundtable on Increasing Tribal Access to Capital

Two public-private partnerships aim to expand economic development and investment in Tribal communities across the country.

On February 29th, LBC Action Partner Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP), along with Hyphen and Mission Driven Finance, hosted a White House Roundtable on increasing Tribal access to capital. Following a challenge from Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland to the philanthropic sector to commit 10% of total giving to projects in Indian Country, leaders from financial, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors discussed innovative approaches to expand economic development and investment in Tribal communities across the country. Two public-private partnerships were announced at the Roundtable: The Tribal Community Vision Fund (established by NAP), which seeks to raise and deploy $1.2 billion in private and philanthropic investments, and the Indigenous Futures Fund, which seeks to raise $2 million in grants and $25 million in investment capital to address the immediate needs and opportunities of Native businesses.
